Illuminations: The Art of Samuel Bak

June 22, 2010

bak paintingFacing History and Ourselves recently launched a new website, Illuminations: The Art of Samuel Bak. The site shares 20 original works by world-renowned artist and Holocaust survivor Samuel Bak—all of which have been donated by Bak and his wife, Josée, as well as Sue and Bernie Pucker, for exhibition at the Brookline, Massachusetts, headquarters of Facing History. This collection will be shared across North America as part of an important new educational resource for our work with educators and students.

The website features an online gallery, complete with audio commentaries about Bak’s work by literary and Holocaust scholar Professor Lawrence L. Langer. It also provides a collection of resources for educators to assist teachers as they facilitate discussions with their students about these remarkable works of art.
